First-generation college student Derrick Parker Jr. recently graduated from Harvard law school. 

The Kansas City native seemed to be destined for success from an early age. Parker was raised under humble circumstances, but his parents still managed to save enough money for him to attend Lincoln College Preparatory Academy. 

While attending LCPA, Parker was 1st chair for the trombone in both wind ensemble and jazz band. During his time at LCPA, Parker was first chair for both wind ensemble and jazz band. He also served as Class President, was voted Prom King and Homecoming King, and was an All-American starter on the football team.

After graduating from Morehouse College as valedictorian in 2018, he went to Harvard Law School. As a Morehouse student, he graduated highest in his class, was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa as a junior, was a Rhodes Scholar, and was a Truman Scholar Finalist.

Parker was very young compared to a majority of his class at Harvard Law School. Parker was even one of the most youthful individuals to attend the joint Trial Law program that the university offers with NYU.

During his time at Harvard Law School, Parker was also a member of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau and the Black Law Students Association, which gave him the opportunity to work one summer for Gottlieb, Cleary, Steen & Hamilton LLP, and another working for Lipton, Wachtell, Rosen & Katz.
Parker has already shown great promise and will surely be a success no matter what he decides to pursue. From class president to Harvard Law school grad, the future is certainly bright for Derrick Parker Jr.
