“Sunshine (The Light)” marked Fat Joe’s return to wax in January – a summer-friendly collaboration with DJ-producer Amorphous and DJ Khaled followed by a similar track “Back Outside” with Remy Ma and Cool & Dre. The NYC legend then revealed what he had been working on leading up to the nine-track EP What Would Big Do 2021, a DJ Drama-produced effort that’s jam-packed with sample-heavy cuts perfect for your next cookout. Apart from the aforementioned, CeeLo Green, Nefertitti Avani, Angelica Vila, Ivory Scott, French Montana, Lil Yachty, and Sevyn Streeter took part in the project.

This past month, the Terror Squad boss created one of the most memorable moments during the LOX and Dipset battle specifically, as camera caught his uncensored reaction when he responded to Camron’s JAY-Z collaboration “Welcome to New York City” with his verse on Ja Rule’s “New York,” which he appeared on in 2004. Following his Instagram Live talk, Fat Joe took to Instagram to explain the situation:

Prior to What Would Big Do 2021, the Terror Squad alum collaborated with Dre in 2019 for the LP Family Ties, which featured 11 tracks contributed by Bryson Tiller, Remy, Jeremih, Big Bank, Ty Dolla $ign, Cardi B, Anuel AA, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and Lil Wayne. In 2019, Joe and Remy released their own full-length, the well-received Plata O Plomo in 2019, which boasted a platinum single called “All The Way Up.”
