Frank Blunt recently released a new single entitled “DRXG MONEY,” an album which he self-produced, and which borrows Gil Scott-Heron’s “The Bottle,” one of the classic cuts from Winter In America, the artist’s 1974 album. Using a different approach to the original’s topic, Blunt delivers inspirational lines about attaining money by any means necessary in addition to ensuring that he can provide for himself:
“DRXG MONEY” follows his highly praised EP Outta Know Where, a seven-song set that featured the soulful single “Soul Glow Gold.” Before that (and when he was still working under the moniker Grind Paze), Blunt released a seven-track album titled Rare. It featured the singles “Dice Roll,” “Quiet As Kept,” and “Bored Games,” on which Kenny Sharp collaborated with Kenny Sharp of Brown Liquor Music’s.
During a previous interview with the Washington Informer Bridge, Blunt discussed how he approaches the creation of music and the process through which he makes it:
Everything begins with weed, but outside of that, I consider myself both melodious and musical. Aside from that, there’s a lot of drumming involved. In summary, I’m first and foremost a producer, and a musician. Music and beats are the foundation for it, and everything grows from there.”
