Doe or Die II, AZ’s follow-up to the influential 1995 debut Doe or Die, was released in September. A total of 13 songs are included on the project, along with collaborations with Rick Ross, Jaheim, Lil Wayne, Conway The Machine, Idris Elba, and more.
This month (Nov. 18), AZ presents his latest video for “Check Me Out,” featuring the legendary Pete Rock, who lays down a perfect background for bars about past tribulations and current success:
Gerard Victor provided the visual for “Check Me Out,” which features AZ and Pete Rock dancing to the beat. In another section, AZ, always dressed to the nines, is shown sitting on a couch with a beautiful woman, which further adds to the nostalgia.
Do or Die II is AZ’s follow-up to Legendary, which was released 12 years ago. For the most part, the Brooklyn legend has lived off of wax for the most part. However, fans also experienced a few loose cuts during that time period, including “Back to Myself” “We Movin,” “Red Magic,” with Soshy, “Save Them” with Prodigy and Raekwon, and “It’s Time.” Before those projects, he had worked on classics such as Pieces of a 9 Lives, Aziatic, Man, and Undeniable.
