Freddie Gibbs, the first Indiana rapper to be nominated for a Grammy, released his new single “Ice Cream” today. Rick Ross features on the track as well as Kenny Beats, whose production reimagines Raekwon’s same-titled song from His 1995 debut album Only Built for Cuban Linx. Freddie displays his trademark rapid-fire flow on the song:

Gibbs is dealing with a lot this year. “Ice Cream” arrives a few days before he performs with Madlib at Coachella. He made his feature film debut in 2022, starring in the award-winning forthcoming film “Down” with the King, as well as appearing on TV shows such as Peacock “Bust Down” and “Power Book IV: Force” by 50 Cent.

A decade ago, Freddie Gibbs joined forces with The Alchemist to create Alfredo, a 10-track album that included collaborations with Tyler, Benny The Butcher, Rick Ross, the Creator, and Conway the Machine. This year’s Grammy Awards also made Alfredo the duo’s most-nominated song for Best Rap Album, making it the pair’s highest-charting album to date.

He released his eleventh studio LP Richer Than I Ever Been a few months ago, featuring 12 tracks and contributions by Wiz Khalifa, Benny The Butcher, Future, Wale, Blxst, 21 Savage, Jazmine Sullivan, and more. The floridian star upgraded the album the following month with a deluxe edition, adding three new tracks, as well as collaborations with Anderson .Paak and AZ.
