Hip Hop icon KRS-One shared his Between Da Protests project around this time last year, a 13-track collection of work with a message of empowerment. Earlier this week, JAY-Z released a new song titled “The Beginning,” announcing that he will be releasing a new album in the near future. As long as KRS is the one, he keeps the following in mind:

Recently, the legendary rapper, as well as fellow legend Big Daddy Kane, made headlines thanks to an epic battle in which they faced off in the Verzuz rap battle. There were many memorable moments, including an iconic diss track directed at the Juice Crew, “The Bridge Is Over,” which KRS-One performed at one point.

KRS-One first emerged as a solo artist with Return of the Boom Bap in 1993, as a member of Boogie Down Productions along with D-Nice and Scott La Rock (RIP). Four years later, I Got Next found him right at the top of the Billboard charts, confirming his place among the best. KRS-One continued to cement his legacy as a rap icon through his next couple of albums including D.I.G.I.T.A.L., The Mixtape, Sneak Attack, Kristyles, and more.
