The new album from Snoop Dogg is titled “Bacc On Death Row”

This is a great time to live! No one ever imagined that Snoop Dogg would become the official owner of the record he used to call home after 28+ years. As established in 1992 by Suge Knight, Dr. Dre, Dick Griffey and the D.O.C., Death Row was a top record label for a long stretch in the 1990s, responsible for the breakthroughs of Tupac Shakur, Snoop and Dre. However, controversy erupted amid a spate of lawsuits and criminal activity, including some involving co-founder Knight, who remains in prison to the present day. This 2-piece combo from Uncle Snoop gets the year off to a good start. The rap legend drops Bacc On Death Row, his 19th studio album, today (Feb. 11). This release couldn’t come at a better time.

According to the deal, Snoop was acquired by Blackstone, Inc. Blackstone, Inc. (BX, -0.05%) was a private equity firm that owned the remaining record company as part of MNRK Music Group. Terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

The acquisition of Death Row Records, which has immense potential, is exciting and rewarding for me, as I am thrilled by its iconic and cultural significance,” Snoop Dogg said in a statement. “I’m glad to have ownership of the company I was part of when I was first starting out in music. For me, it’s a truly meaningful moment.” Moreover, he expressed his enthusiasm for the next chapter in the company’s history.

Uncle Snoop collected 18 records and enlisted Hit-Boy, DJ Battle Cat, Nas, The Game, DaBaby and many others to contribute music. Aside from taking part in this weekend’s Halftime Show, he will also appear on stage with Eminem, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige.
